#0128 Large Rocks in Shallow Water
Another painting done on Chebeague Island off the coast of Maine. This is an early morning painting done between the hours of 6:30AM to 10:30AM. I was looking to find a way to blow up the scale of my work and eliminate the idea of a horizon line. The large rocks help me to attempt this. I was also intrigued with the idea of trying to paint objects under water, in this case sand and rocks. Since water is a substance that reflects shadow and light yet itself has no color, I considered this a formidable challenge. The size of the rocks helped to give each one their own personality and identity. The early morning sun also helped me to carve out distinctive lights and darks. Size: 6' x 6'
