New England is famous for it's stonewalls by Colonial farmers. This particular one is at the rear of my back yard. Besides being intrigued by the wall itself I thought I would use it compositionally by having it cut the canvas in half diagonally so that it becomes almost two paintings. The study of the rocks and then the field of dead leaves in the background. All done in the early morning light.
