World Trade Center, September 8th, 2001
This painting was begun in early July of 2001 and finished in the first week of September. Who could have realized that three days after completion most of these buildings would cease to exist. As I always do, I painted this painting on site. I was standing in front of the World Trade Center everyday for nearly two months. I cannot express in words the significance and tragedy of that day. I hope that by linking that event with the Tsunami of December 25, 2004 and helping with the devastation of others half the world away, we can find some sense of meaning and hope for the future.
